So I got one of these clamps to put my old braze-on front derailleur on a different frame, but I can't get the der to line up right.
Now, I know the clamp is the right size, and it fits around the frame just fine. The der is just in the wrong position. It seems like I can't line up the curve the way it used to be on the old frame no matter how much I try (how's that for a crappy explanation?).
1. Has anyone ever used one of these? Do these clamps work, or should I just get a new clamp on der?
2. Does anyone have a picture of one that's working?
3. Can anyone think of a dumb mistake I might be making?
It's a clamp around a tube, how can it not be lining up properly?
No different than a clamp on derailleur, assuming you've attached the derailleur properly.
No answer for you but I'm interested in the responses because I've got a perfectly good Ultegra FD that I want to swap to another bike and this seems like it'd be the solution.

Yeah....it's only $8.
I must not have put the der on the right way. Anyone have a picture?

Only isssue is that there can be incompatibility between some adapters and some brands of FD. If it's shimano/shimano, no problem. Clamp isn't upside down is it?

When you say you can't line up the curve, do you mean the curve of the bottom edge of the derailleur with the chainring? Do you mean it's too far or close to the seat tube?
Or do you mean it's tipped forward or backward?

I meant the curve of the bottom edge of the der with the chainring. I managed to get that pretty straight, but now it's too close to the seat tube. How do I fix that?

Sydney,
What about a derailleur clamp for a Campy front derailleur?
I need one.
Thanks.

ScottI just stuck a chorus 10 speed in a shimano adapter.Works fine. Think Nashbar sells one for less than the Shimano.Problem solvers has one for 11/8" seattubes.
