Mind saying what kind of frame it is? And, no, racing frames come in all sorts of metals.

there are more racing frames that come in 4130 than you would think.

It should have some kind of model name or number sticker somewhere. Usually they are on the top tube on Haro bikes, at least that's where mine is.

i dont think its a race bike than. i dont know of a haro race bike made of 4130

ok nevermind...

That's a pretty crappy frame, then.

Yeah, that is what mine says, you might have a F3 or F4 model Haro, does it have forged cranks?

Yeah, I thought that mine was full cromo, but I found out that it's not because it says on my bike that the seatpost is cromo, and I think that that means that everything else must be hi-tensile steel. It's not the best, but I'm small and don't weigh alot, so it should last me for awhile.

whats the point of making just the seattube chromoly

CMcMahon
03-05-05, 11:04 PM
I highly doubt that only the seattube is chromoly; most likely, the main tubes (headtube, top tube, downtube, and seattube) are chromoly.

i just checked out the haro website, and some bikes have just the seattube chromoly, and some have the front triangle chromoly

WHY are you asking about a bike you already own?

I swear - it pisses me off more than anything when someone buys a bike FIRST, then asks if it is a good bike SECOND.

WRONG ORDER PEOPLE!

Really, really, REALLY, does NOT f'n matter how good your bike is. You own it, so ride it like it is the best damn bike on the face of the earth and don't ask and DO NOT listen to what anyone has to say about the quality of it.

Whoa, someone put a bee in your bonnet! I was just checking, my goodness, it doesn't take much to tick you off, not to mention get you into a swearing fit. Oh well, be mad if you want, it's not my buisness.

He's entitled.
Seriously, what is the point of finding out how good what you already bought is, if you have no plan to trade it in for another thing?

FLYBOY: Don't answer for others - I wasn't talking to you.

You want to hear some straight up truth that applies to this question almost every time it is asked instead of a reminder to look before you leap - fine, here it is.

(Copy and paste the response below to every single 13 year old that asks this question which is, in my last count, about 150 times a year that I hear it.)

Your bike is crap, you wasted your money on it and there is much higher quality for the price you spent. You could have gotten yourself on a bike with better parts, better geometry, better components - just all around BETTER, and spent almost the same amount of money. Please take the bike back to the rip-off shop you got it from, get your money back, and put it towards a bike that actually offers you some value for your dollar instead of a rip-off piece o' junk bike like you currently have.

That's probably NOT what you want to hear, but is just the truth.

NOTE: We still don't know the actual bike or the amount paid for the one listed in this entire thread, so I have no idea if what I said is accurate. But, my prior post is dead on - asking after you have already purchased something is bass-ackwards.

Well, as we all know, 90% of people who think "is my bike good" after buying it generally last less than a year, anyway.

its not my bike...its my friends and i dont know where he got it...but i dont wanna go and take it out and put to much on it and break it like other bikes ive had so i was just making sure and dont you think its better to ask on a bmx forum from people who know it really well then my friends or a bike shop thats mainly road bikes?

BMXTRIX

Yes, ask on a bmx forum.

If it's your friends bike, then that sounds better - or if you pick it up for 20 bucks, then that's cool. But, it truly is a question that is asked every other day after the purchase has been made.

If you don't own the bike and are just borrowing it - I wouldn't do anything on it as it isn't your bike. If you are thinking about buying it from your friend, find out exactly what bike it is. Find out 100% for sure what bike it is and how much your friend is asking and look at the condition of it and everything else.

Then, of course, you are doing the smart thing and checking the bike out and asking questions before you put your cash down on it.

Ok, ok, you are right and I am wrong, and I'm sorry for my dumb post on what you said earlier. Yes, my bike is crap compared to your guys bikes, and yes it will probably break in two years or so, but when I bought it I had NO idea of how many bikes there were on the market, and I thought that it would be a good starter bike, wich it is. And I know that you know a hell of alot more than I do about everything bmx, so when some kid asks you a question for the sixth time in the same day it can get a little annoying, and I'm sorry (again) by my dumb questions and dumb responses to your posts. Please except my appology. And it doesn't matter what the hell any of you guys think about my bike, so I don't know why I asked a stupid question like: "Is my bike any good?"; maybe it was because I wanted to be accepted by you, I don't know. But all I know is that I've bought the bike already, and it's working out perfectly for me and I believe it still will for quite awhile, so what's done is done and I'll just have to live with it. So again, thanks for putting up with my crap, and sorry for the stupid questions and responses.

Well, as we all know, 90% of people who think "is my bike good" after buying it generally last less than a year, anyway.

I don't care what you think of me or my bike. And intend to keep getting better on my bike, and I'm working at it as much as I can. And besides, how would you know that? Do you find these things on the internet and then go preach them? I'm not even going to try Beerman, I know it doesn't make any difference. So to hell with it all.

First off, I wasn't even referring to you, genius; I was referring to the guy who started the thread. And, if I'm reading ~P~'s post correctly, he's not even referring to you in his tirade ("Your bike is crap..."), but is rather suggesting that people simply copy/paste that into any future threads like this.

Second off, I know that from personal experience; I've seen more than enough people pick up a POS bike, then later ask how good it is, and end up quitting riding (not necessarily for that reason, but for other, related reasons) not all that long later.

Third off, stop posting your long "apologies" after every time you get shut down, because, frankly, no one cares.

Flyboy - Don't apologize for your bike. Really - read the VERY last line of my first post.

"You own it, so ride it like it is the best damn bike on the face of the earth and don't ask and DO NOT listen to what anyone has to say about the quality of it."

It is all you have for a bike, ride it like it's the best and worry about quality NEXT time you buy. If what you have is Wal-Mart Huffy/Next, so be it! Ride it and love the sport.

Yeah, and be grateful you're not trying to buy a bike in Australia. Living here is great, but imagine having your LBS tell you the 2005's are sold out, wait until Christmas time when they get the 2006 models in. Really. And the only thing you can find online is a 2003. I'll race my bike and be happy, as it was the only one I could get my hands on that fit what I was looking for. I got a new 2004 Haro Group 1 SX 24 on ebay for about 1/2 price. The 2004 Norco was sold out in February! So quit your whining, and go ride your bikes, and be glad you have access to stuff cheap.
