How does buying books from different vendors on Amazon work? I mean, Amazon says select books ship free, but they are coming from different vendors. Do the vendors send the books to some Amazon distribution point where they box the various books into one box and ship them vs. each vendor shipping the books and incurring costs? How does that work?

Ok, there are two "selections" to choose from (most times at different prices). One is from Amazon itself and the other is a list of indepentant vendors who ship your stuff at some predetermine shipping fee. So if you buy several books from different vendors, the shipping can add up vs. buying everything from Amazon for free or one single shipping fee.
