Mountain Biking - Anyone Ride a specialized fsr xc pro?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey, I am about to put down my last $300 on the fsr xc pro.....After doing a paper route all winter in Minnesota it about to pay off.(only 16 and paper route pays more then mcdonalds lol)...I finally got to see it at the bike shop on friday and I was surprised that it was lighter then my entry level Raleigh (M50)
So if you own a FSR XC can you tell me some things to watch out for and how it rides? Also I want to know if anyone races on this bike..

Yeah, I have. Yesterday, I took a ride on one and I can tell you this. As long as you're sitting you barely get any pedal bob, the suspension is very plush, but becasue I rode a large one and it was 1300 dollars (300 FSR XC? wow good deal) and it was hard for me to manuever compared to my very small scrap. That bike accelerates incredibly quickly, but to me , just doesn't have the traction and control I would like.
He said its on layaway...
In any case, its a nice bike for the money, I think you'll really like it.

I think Raiyn has one. I haven't ridden one but they look like nice bikes from the spec sheets on the net.

If you would have had it set correctly you wouldn't have had any bobbing

I have the new model Stumpjumper FSR Pro witht the through frame design (I'm assuming this is the bike you're talking about) and it's an incredible ride. Make sure you take the time to dial in the Triad shock because, once you hit the "sweet spot" for your height and weight, you're going to be incredibly impressed. Also, make sure you learn to use the shock's settings as there are A LOT of people who either ride it in "ProPedal" or "Open" all the time and miss out on the awesome added benefits you get from simply reaching down and flipping the little blue switch.
ProPedal's awesome for long climbs over rough to fully technical terrain with some rolling descents (locking it out completely is great on long, fire road climbs or on road sections) whereas when you know you're going to be hitting a long descent, flip that baby into the fully active mode and I guarantee that you'll feel like you have a lot more than 4" of travel back there.
Enjoy the bike and let me know how you like it.
P.S. I have the frame only, the rest of the parts are spec'd out so I can't answer any questions about how the componentry that comes on the bike performs...sorry.

Remember he is asking about the FSR XC, not the Stumpjumper FSR. The FSR XC is kind of a full suspension version of the Rockhopper, while yours is a Stumpjumper.

Interesting, I had no idea that Specialized had passed the "through frame" design on down to the FSR's. After looking at that bike however, most of my reply still applies as the "Pro" uses the through frame design with the Triad shock...the componentry just isn't quite as nice.

That's funny your post doesn't say that at all
In fact is says:
As long as you're sitting you barely get any pedal bob,
So tell us again how it has bob when you're sitting and the shock is setup properly
