Classic & Vintage - Help me ID this bike (I cant beleive I'm posting one of these threads...)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

No numbers anywhere, what does that say on the coaster brake?

The way those chainstays are shaped behind the BB look a lot like my old Columbia.

We were working on a bike just like that at the bike co-op this past weekend.
I will look at it tonight to get more information.
Believe it was made in the US (1952) and had the same rear drop outs (w/ axle adjuster) as your bike.

Enjoy

I'd be anxious to hear what you turn up! Thanks for the help.

1948 Shelby cloud
Shelby bicycle company, Shelby Ohio
In 1952 the Shelby manufacturing was sold to the Gambles Department store and then to AMF

Headbadge has a flying swan or goose.
Looks just like this one but covered in rust and a womens frame (note the extra support for the front forks):

thanks for the info, powers. I'm having a hard time picking out deatils on the flying cloud photo in the second link, but I can see that both the handlebars and crank are different on mine. Not sure what that means, but now I have a name to google to hunt for more photos to compare.

Shelby makes sense since they're (sort of) local.

Thanks again for the help!

The swan reference is from looking at the headbadge on the bike we have at the co-op.
We have a stack of bikes from that era laying around waiting for a buyer or restoration specialist.
Come on by if you are ever in Cleveland and take a look at the pile. You may find one just like yours with an intact headbadge.

Excellent, thank you!!
yanno, I've been riding in Ohio for years (okay, decades) and I've never heard of the ohio city co-op.....

Although I figure your more of a local thing, there must be a way we can get the word out about you guys. Its too good of a thing for Ohio to be kept quiet up in Cleveland.....
