Hi everyone. My name is Laura, and my bike's name is Purple Bike (very original). I live in the fair city of Akron, Ohio, home of lots of drunken homeless people, Devo, and very bad drivers.

I'm one of those who refuses to ever get a driver's license. Thus, my main modes of transportation are my bike, my feet, and the occasional Metro Bus. I ride with the local Critical Mass group from time to time, and try my hardest not to get run over by maniacs in SUVs.

I'm sure there's a gazillion things I'm forgetting to mention. If you have questions, ask me. I won't bite, unless you're into that sort of thing. :D

Welcome aboard Laura,
I sometimes ride to Crakron from Cleveland on the weekends.
Maybe I'll see you out on the road.
Enjoy

Wow. That's a pretty long ride. Which route do you use?

Welcome to the forums. I bought my bike in Barberton from RD Bike. One of the few places that sells 'bents. Enjoy your stay here.

The first few times I used the Ohio Canal Towpath. It starts near I-77 & Fleet, just south of downtown Cleveland, and ends at Howard Street, just North of downtown Crackron, (near Luigi's). The towpath is nice because it is dead flat but the crushed limestone on the towpath creates a lot of caustic dust that is not good for the bike (or me).
Now I ride the roads that run roughly parallel to the towpath (some are very hilly).
The best ride I attended last summer was STOMP. The ride started in the Akron valley (Riverview road) and the proceeds went toward preserving the metro parks.
Enjoy

The Metroparks does a similar ride here in Lorain county in the spring. It is a tour of all of the Metroparks. The rides are of varying lengths. You can pick your distance from a few miles all the way to a metric century.

If you ever make it to Cleveland be sure to stop by the Ohio City Bike Co-op.
You can meet other cycling enthusiasts and learn about bike maintenance.
