Need some inside info on travel from Boston MA to NYC for my elderly parents.
There is a greyhound service, but how does that compare to amtrak? They will be continuing by greyhound to Binghampton.
There seem to be 4 stations in Boston, which is the most appropriate ?
Which station in NYC is closest to the grayhound station?
I have the amtrac and greyhound websites but they just ask you which station you want.

there's a bus that leaves from chinatown, its only 7 dollars. sorry, thats all i know about it

as for the NYC station part of your question: port authority is the main station for the greyhound busses. if they arrive into that, they will be able to make all the connections they need.

For convience sake and peace of mind, I would put them on the bus all the way. It only takes an hour or so longer by bus and they don't have to travel between Penn Station and the bus station in NYC ( about 8 blocks)

I think the china town buses have increased to $15/per person/per way. Buses arrive/depart at South Station in boston, right on the MBTA Redline.

If the Chinatown bus is anything like the one between DC and NYC, your folks should avoid it at all costs. However, if it's decent, clean, and the driver does not let folks off at exit ramps on the side of the interstate in the middle of the night, then it may indeed be convenient.

A coworker took one of the Chinatown buses roundrtrip recently. She had a good experience using it. 15$ sounds around what she paid each way. I'm not sure which company, though I think she'll be working over the weekend and I can find out+post.

Usually the standard bus is the fung wah bus form NYC-Boston or vice/versa. There maybe other operations in boston also, but i'm not sure.
