Classic & Vintage - A little more Sentinel info uncovered

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

And it was right under my nose. I rode my rebuilt Sentinel to my LBS today, and the owner said, "Oh, yeah -- we used to sell those; we got them from a company called Wilco in San Jose. They sold for $89 in 1973 (the year mine was built), but they were only imported for a couple years and not in any quantity. He didn't know which Japanese manufacturer built them though.
Here's mine, fresh paint and wheels too good for it.

Did you do your paint yourself?
Actually, the Sentinel frames were manufactured and assembled in California, according to a 1978 road test of the Sentinel Whisper that I recently found. Which would also indicate that they were around for more than a couple of years.

Yup -- came out pretty good for a spray-bomb job.
T-mar -- Could I convince you to scan me a copy of that article?

Looks to me like you have a lot of patience. Nice 70's look to it.

Not a lot of patience, but 3M blue masking tape and a good pinstriping sword. ;)
