I did a search for Sears bikes and found some similar to what my old bike is but not quite the same so maybe someone can tell me something more about it.
Not a Ted W. model
Says made in Germany on it
has some suntour componets on it
an early 70's bike
To me it's just a old bike I use in my trainer but it might be worth having the frame painted, I bought it from the person who purchased it new.

I know very little about Sears' bikes, but I used to collect Sears Silvertone guitars and amps. Sears' MO was to contract with OEM suppliers and then stick their own label on the product. Their guitars and amps were made by mid-line companies such as Harmony, Danelectro, etc. So your bike was probably made by some mid-line German bike manufacturer and then branded with the Sears logo...

I believe Puch (AD/SteyrPuch) made some Sears bikes. Not absolutely positive on this, someone will come along and confirm/correct this.

Yes, they did. Puch also made scooters, mopeds, & motorcycles for Sears using the Allstate brand.

The "Made in Germany" makes me wonder if it was made by some company other than Puch. If Puch had manufactured it I would expect to see Made in Austria instead.

I doubt it.
We have about 100 Sears bikes we tried to give away. There were no takers so we are sending them to Haiti.
I would suggest saving your money and riding it until something major breakes and then go get another one from a tree-lawn.
