Bicycle Mechanics - speedplay x5

i was at performance bike today and i saw that the speedplay x5's were on sale for 70 bucks and i was thinking of getting a pair. does anyone have experience with the x5's? the look pp357's gave me a tough time. locking in was hard and disengaging was hard. and i got sore knees from them after a bit of riding. the x5's seem promising with their claims on the website about how easy it is to disengage and lock in. and the float that prevents sore knees sounds pretty tempting. can anyone shed some light about their experience with the x5's or speedplay x series pedals in general? i need lots of details! thx!

Speedplay pedals are light, easy to get into/out of, easy on the knees for most people, durable (X5's now have rolling bearings like the other models). For $70 you can't go wrong.

Jump on them for $70. You won't find a much better deal than that. I can't give you any actual advice on them. They would probably sell for close to, or more than that on Ebay if you decide you don't like them.

woo hoo! i got myself a pair just last week and they're awesome! easy to clip in and easy to clip out (when i want to that is).

Mine cost me around $100. Grab them for $70! Only pair of clipless pedals I've ever owned, but I love them. They're so easy to get into that I sometimes clip in by accident, such as when I'm slowing down getting ready to stop. I guess that's really the only down side to them that I've found (if you could even call that a down side). I'll never ride with any other kind.
