The little icon on someones post you can click and go directly to the post reply thing at the bottom of the page? I found it quite handy.

Exactly what i'm talking about, you still lose the capability to quote the message by checking the checkbox.

Could this have been a feature on another forum you visit? Nothing has changed on how you reply to threads, using the standard, or quick reply in over two years... :)

Didn't the font and location change awhile ago? I seem to remember something where there were too many long quotes, and the 'reply' button was added, red and larger so people would be encouraged to use that subliminally without always quoting.
I could just be hallucinating. I do that sometimes...

That's what the "Reply W/Quote" link is right next to the "Reply" link. So you can quote folks if you want still. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, that is...
