The LBS is wrangling for me to trade them my Cannondale R-400 aluminum road frame. The frame has the Suntour front derr., a pair of Shimano 105 downtube levers, a headset & forks, and some Sugino cranks. They want to offer me some trade-in credit toward shop merchandise for my frame. I guess my question is "what equivalent-dollar-amount should I expect go get for this frame?" Since y'all are mechanics, I suppose you'll have a good idea.

Thanks!

I don't know - it has about 127 mm rear dropouts, so I think it isn't a 7, 9, or 10 speed rear. The wheel that was on it (obviously not the stock item) was a Maillard hub with a 6-speed cogwheel. A reasonable guess, then based on your purchase would be somewhere from $50 to $75?

Thanks again!

Thanks! Maybe $100 in trade.

Maybe $100 in trade.

Which equals about $50 out of pocket expense to the bike shop.

Cannondale serial #: Serial number code: first two digits are the size, next 6 are date of manufacture, remainder are unit number. For instance: SN#54021787121 indicates a 54 cm frame, built on February 17, 1987, #121.

Don't expect a lot, my friend. If you want to sell it you'll get a bit, but shops aren't going to give you anything near what it's worth. Remember that they've got to sell it for what it's worth.
