I am looking for my first rear suspension frame. The various configurations are dizzying. Any explanations or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

depends what you are really going to use the bike for? your probably best going down the lbs and asking to try out a few.

I have a Specialized FSR Comp (full-suspension) frame and its great! best bit of advice is dont get a cheap frame. the frame is basically the heart of the bike, you can change pretty much everything else on a bike but not the frame (unless ur made of money). so you might be better going for a higher quality frame over higher quality components, but it all depends on what you want to do with the bike. think about it and talk to your lbs owner, he might be able to sort yo out straight away.

If you find a couple of bikes you like, post the details and well tell you which is better. :)

BTW welcome to the forums.

Adaze,

Thanks for the help. I am going to be using the bike as a riding-down-flights-of-stairs city bike with some trail use as well. The suspension is for my knees which don't appreciate the years of abuse that I've subjected them to thus far.

you definatley dont want a cheap bike then, try for a middle range, how much do you have to spend, it also might be worth seeing if your lbs has any second hand bikes. when i got mine it was a year old but i saved £1000 on the bike. as long as your not planning on any huge drops then whatever rear suspension comes on the bike should be adequate for your needs, as you dont need rediclous travel on the rear for your needs.

No huge drops. I have seen some 2001 models at my local shop that the owners are trying to clear out. Thanks again for the help.
