General Cycling Discussion - Strange How Things Happen

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Have you ever noticed some of the little things that happen almost every time, but we all take them for granted. Things like:
When you try to put air in your tires, the valve is always up between the forks or caliper brakes where you can't see it right away. This occurs to me everyday! And most times both valves are up and out of sight!
Or when you try to plug in an electrical plug (U.S.), the big prong is always reversed with the small prong and won't fit, forcing you to turn it around...every time!
I can think of a hundred of these "little" things that happen without fail. Does anyone else experience these kinds of things?

Life's little ironies...
My direct supervisor is nowhere to be found when I need him. But if I screw something up he is there to witness the whole thing.
The day after throwing away all the junk in my shed, I discovered it wasn't junk after all. I actually needed some of those things.

And you probably hadn't needed any of it for the past 1 to 5 years the junk sat in there...right?
Every time I decide to go for a ride, it's at that moment that the wind picks up to 40k.

i've found when paying attention its not so much that it happens everytime with out fail, just that it happens abou 50% of the time that way and i just remember those times and not the others so it comes off in my head that it happens every time but when i actually make a point to pay attention to all instances of the given situation then it really doesn't happen as often as i though. talk about a run on sentence.

Other ones; if you`re in a hurry, all traffic lights are red.
You always ride flat when you don`t have a spare tube/pump.

Or forget to bring your pump with you.

How true! I had my first flat last week. I left my pump home when my pump peg (zip tie) broke. First flat in 3000+ miles this year. :(

What's really strange is the way things sometimes work out when you don't intend them to...
The time I slammed on my brakes too hard and my rear wheel went up...then, it landed on the curb. Amazingly, I jerked the front wheel and it laned on the curb, too.
I looked to the right, and there was a group of bike couriers watching.
"Yup, I meant to do that."
:D
