How do I figure out the largest wheel that will fit on my current rim?
Thanks.

Generally it has more to do with the rest of the bike than the rim. On road bikes the distance between the brake pads and sometimes the chain stays limits how wide of a tire you can make fit. On mountain bikes it usually comes down to chain stay clearance and sometimes interference with the front derailleur.

Do you mean the largest tire that will fit your rim?

Yeah, a wheel is the whole entire thing (hub, spokes, rim, tire). I assume you mean tire.

On a road bike the limit is usually set by the clearance of the brake calipers, the chainstay bridge and the fork. You often have to use a smaller tyre if you also want to use fenders.
Rims do have limits to the sizes they accept. As a guide, racing rims take anything up to 28mm. Touring/hybrid rims take 28-40mm size tyres.
What style of bike and what do you want to use it for?

I currently want to put a more aggressive tire on my rims. Is there anyway to figure out what is the max size. It is a mountain bike. So basically I want to put the largest rubber on the stock metal. Thanks, so I wasnt clear enough
