Road Cycling - Long Rides...

I have a really weird question. What do you do when your on one of those long rides and you have to pee real bad, with no public restroom or out house in sight? Do you just go on the side of the road with the risk of getting a ticket for indescent exposure? Do you go in your empty water bottle (just kidding)? What are your suggestions?

Seriously, there are times (especially after a cup of coffee) when I have to think about the pressure. If there is no corn field or wooded area, I'll look for a construction site, like a house project or just a single house being built. Usually there is a port-a-pottie (KYBO for hardcore RAGBRAIers) on the site. If someone is on the site I ask to use the facility. I have never been refused.

Where ther are too many people, there is bound to be a restroom somewhere...a store, resturant, or fast food place.

Some guys are talented at going while on the bike. I haven't had to do that yet. Something has always been available so far.

Trees, bushes or in populated areas gas stations, fast food places, even Safeway has rest rooms. It's handy to have even a cheap cable lock for these types of quick stops.

I usually would stop at a coffee shop and bring my bike inside the washroom if not allowed will look for very isolated place and releave myself,, we old guys are very succeptible to stones and I don't want to have that Kind of problem this late in my life:beer: :beer: :D :D

Well, the one time I made a quick stop on the side of the road, a family drove by in a van watching me pee, while laughing at me. It was kind of an embarrassing moment. Next time I will find a bush or maybe a cow or something to hide behind.

Well if you really can't manage to pee while pedaling -- one of those skills, like trackstanding, that separate the true cyclist from the mere poseur -- then go ahead and wander into the woods if you must. But don't be surprised if a bear rides off on your bicycle while you're busy.

Well, as long as one tries to be discreet, I really don't see any rational officer charging one with indecent exposure. I recall doing a tour last year. The road from Muddy Pass to Weldon, CO is pretty strange. I think it is about 45 miles or so and no stores, no intersections, no cover, no nothing for that whole distance. Just a road going through range land. One lady said that she had to go and couldn't find a place and finally she stopped and saw that there was no one in sight so she just went in the open. But that is Colorado and I think out in the west, they are more understanding out there.

For f*cks sake, you Yanks make everything so damn difficult. If you're riding in the countryside and there are no people around looking, why not just get off your bike and pee? Simple as that.

Cycling sure is much different in the States than it is in Europe!!!
Do what the pros do on a 6 hour race, sit sideways in the saddle at 35km/hr, whip it out and go - making sure not to get your leg wet:D

yes, we sure can do it, but remember if you get caught you'll end up having a ticket or being charge for illegal exposure

How about I just piss on the road while waving at people who drive by;)
