I can pickup a Centurion Accordo for $60.00 and would like any input all of you may have on this bike.

Centurion Accordo
Made in taiwan designed in usa
CRMO frame double butted tubes
Avenir gel seat
Exage Derailer
shimano shift levers (located on down tube)
Exage cantilever brakes

(why can't I find a bike I can easily find info on?!?!?)

I have 1989 specs for this model that match your description. Tubing is seamed Tange Infinity CrMo with CrMo fork, stay material not mentioned. Exage 12 speed drivetrain and brakes. Centurion hubs laced to Araya SS45 rims. Avenir Racing gel saddle, Kalloy stem and Centurion handlebars. Claimed weight of 25 lb. MSR of $370 US. A sport/touring model on the cusp of low and mid range.

Your model could vary a year or two from this, so if you what a better idea, try matching the component date codes with the info on the Vintage-Trek website.

I have an accordo fixie and while not high end, it is a comfortable, stable bike. Mine has the Tange stickers too. Suntour 500 brake (only one and not sure if it was original) SR bar, SR stem, bb?? (cup/loose ball), sekai headset (not sure if it is orig though). Araya aluminum rims orig. replaced the front with a Phil/Weinnman and the back has a suzue /araya which came with it.

For 60, I would grab it as I have absolutely no complaints with mine, and really like the double crown fork and lugs in general. While it may not appreciate, I sure do appreciate it and ride it much more than my other bikes even though it is a beater.

Well I did end up buying it and so far am very pleased. It does however say "made in Taiwan designed in USA". Once I have some pics I will post for you.

Really? Hmmm. Mine says made in Japan on it. Weird. Pix would be great! Once you post pictures I'll add this thread to my page.

Because of changes in the dollar/yen ratio, bikes that were made in Japan from 1975 to around 1985, were being made in Taiwan by around 1988 or so. Centurion imported bikes to the USA at every price level from entry level to (almost) pro level. A Centurion trade-mark was that the frames were always well made at any given price level.

The importer was using the Diamondback name on mountain bikes, and dropped the Centurion name around 1990. My favorite Centurions are the Dave Scott Ironman models of the mid-80's, and they still turn up on E-Bay quite often.
