Classic & Vintage - Do I have a Schwinn??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Can someone tell me if the bike I have found is a schwinn or not. I cannot seem to cross refrence the serial numbers to any site around. Heres my info:
Dark Green/ Creme, chrome tanks, spring forks, Schwinn badges , etc
Ser # on bottom of crank tube:
TY96071434
Whats it worth.... Its in great condition!!
Post a pic. But if it has Schwinn badges that look like they line up (ie no extra screw holes or odd paint fades), I'd call it a Schwinn. Looks like a Schwinn serial number...If it is, its a late one (the Y in the serial number means its an '87, if I'm correct).

If this is an '87 whats it worth??
If its an '87, I'd think it's not worth a lot (but what do I know). Do you like it? That's where the real value is. Check this out - its a '90, but looks a lot like yours:

The typeface on the chainguard is the dead giveaway. That's the 1950s as rendered by someone whose acquaintance with the period doesn't go beyond 'American Graffiti'.

What? Are you saying I'm wrong? As I said, I really have no idea as to how old the bike is. I'm not offended if I am wrong, but what did you mean to say?

Just that while the typeface on the chainguard may evoke the '50s, Schwinn never used anything like that back then. Meant no offense to you; I'm a graphic artist so I notice stuff like that.

The bike looks exactly like the ones I sold (when I was a Schwinn dealer) in the late 90's.
As to "value", like a previous poster said, it is worth whatever sentimental value it has to you. There is no "collector" value to it, it is too "new", and has a LOT of rust on it , looking at the picture.
It could be very valuable to you if you ride it alot, get in better physical shape, and live an extra 20 years. Then it is invaluable, indeed !

wow,, with a little more patina and you could have fooled me. would have guessed older,,,but it is like schwinn to revive the old/
Cool. No beef then. I do kinda get that feeling. Like Electra does with their detailing and pin ups...
