Hi everyone,
Staying up way too late trolling around on ways to carry my daughter who is yet to be born and I found this:
http://www.chariotcarriers.com/html_english/sidecarrier.htm
It's a sidecar for a bicycle. It's advantages over a trailer are that the child is closer, more observeable, easier to make conversation and doesn't get dirt thrown on them from the rear wheel.
Downside is it really only fits on mountain bikes (smaller wheels). I'm a little skeptic of the 1 hinge mounting system. But it rides like a regular bicycle because the bicycle is allowed to lean. It also detaches/attaches very easily and is foldable.
Some user comments are here: http://www.bicycletrailers.com/chariot-sidecarrier.shtml?engine=bizrate
It costs about $400 It's made in Canada, so I'm not sure if that's Canadian or U.S.
This is a serious option, weirdly it would mean getting a mountain bike to work with it. Hmmm,,,,
