Bicycle Mechanics - weird bar-end rotary shifters

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I bought this cannondale black-lightning road bike at a garage sale, and I decided to change the stem, but I can't get the bar-end shifters off the handlebar to accomplish the task. The shifters are index shifters that operate by rotating them.
The guy at the LBS wasn't sure how to remove them either.
There is no description of this particular shifter in the Bicycling Magazine maintainence and repair book.
The words Grip Shift are legible on the side of the cylinder.
Anybody familiar with these shifters, and how to remove them?
Let me upload that photo again. It didn't appear to work the first time.
I saw nothing in the SRAM catalogs that vaguely resembled what's on your bike. However, the shifters are usually held on by a small allen set screw of 2.0 or 2.5mm. If you can't find it, here is a technical support phone line that may be of some use:
1-800-346-2928 if you are in the USA. Or you can e-mail them:

Check the hole in the end of the shifter. As LJBike points out, it will take either an allen wrench or a screwdriver to loosen it.
Be careful. On mine, the left side shifter threads were counter-clockwise rather than normal clockwise. So to loosen, I had to turn clockwise. Consider this before you shred the bolt head.
