Well I had a cadence of 377RPM today, so does my computer say. It makes me think about the 159.9km/h I had two weeks ago, I think it was for real. Do you people pedal this fast or its just me.

I was having a polite discussion with BlackBerry the other day and he said his cadence was in the order of 379RPM. Unfortunately BB's comments, inuendo and rhetoric can rarely be relied upon accept as sheer dross at the Tar & Feathers and other such watering holes.

I do believe you're on yer own Whoodie.

Hang on a sec, can you please confirm you weren't riding down a mineshaft please.

I think someone needs to dial up the resistance on his trainer

I know you are jealous cause I can beat all ya on my lowest gearing combination.

Please don't burst my bubble. I had a perfect excuse for including 159km/h as my highest speed ever, of course on a relatively flat route. May this is a delayed display, for that days speed/performance it's a computer you know.

This is on the road bro. Well, I passed a few cars.

Hey, it's measured with a computer and the results are posted on the Internet. It has got to be true, right? Right??

Very well, not down a mine shaft, perhaps you went over the safety rails on Mount Kilimanjaro?? Well done for surviving the trip down. I was watching the news and I did hear someone mention how impressed they were, that you overtook the school bus 7 times. :D :D :D

Sorry to disappoint you, but I regularly spin four digits, like 1156 rpm or so. On the other hand, my usual cadence these days is 0, regardless of gear or speed. I guess my Sigma computer is screaming for some mechanical attention. :D

Well mine is not attribute to a mechanical or electrical error. I tend to believe it is all about the physique.

Vetta I want my money back.

No, not necessarily, the road code is 110km/h for private cars on Dual Carriage. Why is hard to believe that I have improved overnight.

You should be asking me, the key to my success. :D

My good man,

On occasion after occasion, I have offered you the olive branch and what do you do? You insist on advising me to position said branch in a location where the sun does not shine. I cannot, I will not take such advice sitting down.

I am only too glad that we are separated by a vast, heaving ocean. Otherwise, I might be forced to take an action which we would both later come to regret. That is to say, I stand ready to challenge you to a bicycle race down a mineshaft. And then we'd see about RPMs, sheer dross, and what is and what is not mere innuendo and rhetoric.

That's nothing ... the other day I hit over 180mph on my bike ... of course I recorded this as I walked it past the magnetic door locks in my office building ... hmmmm :o

Perhaps we could combine our energies?! What about a quick soujourn over to Kenya to see what this Whoodie character really is up to. Perhaps those chaps over there measure cadence in degrees of arc!?

I wonder which of my rifles I should take along.

Blast, no gun boys eh? Alright then, I'll doss up in my pith helmet. I trust they have those bar carriages still. I hope there's still time to check out Whoodie after the safaris.

Blackberry
03-16-05, 06:18 PM
No guns. I fear you might mistake me for a Panther in the dark of night. However, pith helmets and bar carriages sound most congenial. Of course, we count on Whoodie to show us the ropes.

HaagenDas
03-16-05, 06:24 PM
Agreed, no guns, too much risk of an "accident". Perhaps after Whoodie has shown us around the bars, local doss houses and game parks, he might be so good to run us up to a coffee plantation. After all, it may be possible to convert our relationship into something more positive over a cup of the locally grown.

Toodle Pip.

I suppose we ought to throw a set of false teeth into our kit for Whoodie too. After all, he can't have many left after a harrowing ride down the side of the big K.

That's why I'm trying to convince BlackBerry to come over to Kenya. It could be a great show. You won't see much of BB, he'll be mostly carrying my bags, clubs. He could also prove usefull in flagging down other cyclists when Whoodie goes for another spin down Mount Kilaminjaro.

They may well make an epic doco out of it. :D

BB, I accept your challenge, Infact I was holding back, I could have easily hit 450RPM were it not for that Yellow School Bus obstructing my passage.

We will sip coffee/tea together at the top of Mt Kilimanjaro but won't it be nice too if I tried a trip down Mt Kenya.

Uhhh... let's see. If I build up my fixie with a 29/19, head over to a steep hill, take my feet off the pedals and let 'er rip down the hill, I only need to hit about 46mph to beat that :)

Good luck. To make it more fun, meet BlackBerry and HaagenDas (I believe they are headed to Mt Kilimanjaro) at the airport if you want to be in the mix. And if guys are coming make sure you use the same flight. The trip to the airport is a dangerous one so I do it once.

The more the merrier. Don't let HD talk you into carrying his golf clubs or inflating his girlfriend.

HaagenDas

Did I say you were carrying my golf balls? Perhaps you misunderstand :D The more I read this, the more I think Whoodie is trying to lure us into a trap.

BB, that pun about the inflatable girlfriend is a bit below the belt. So not everyone takes a blow sheep with them everywhere they go. Does that mean it's open slather on making fun of it?? huh??

Whoodie do I take it that you mean the landing is dangerous? I bet those stupid bastard civil engineers over there built the damned runway running up and down the mountain instead of across it.

Fair suck of the sav, I reckon I'm getting the rough end of the pineapple on this deal so far. I want to see a photo of the speed boat and sheilas before I pack one sock for this trip.

The runway is good, just a few pot holes here and there, but thats not a prob, the holes infact act as external brakes. The runway is short you know. Anyway the big worry is the trip to and from the airport, you have to go through four game reserves, Nairobi, Amboseli, Serengeti and Mara. Of there are Man Eaters (beat you to that :D ), hostile tribes and many other worries.

It's by grace I survive in this hole.

03-18-05, 02:17 AM
Man eaters eh?? well, we understand you'll fix us up with those at the doss houses as well then. You didn't mention beer and biltong so far. The hostile tribes might be a bit of a worry but I'm sure you'll get us through with your local knowledge.

Yes, I will do everything to win. Even if I have to deliver you to the man eaters or the chief of this tribe myself (oops, i didn't mean to disclose this).

It is now official that Whoodie is the forum's high pedaling champ.
After beating BlackBerry in the race of Cadence by forfeit. BB has only his Trainer (HaagenDas) to blame for the loss, after he advertently ill adviced him against showing up.

Of course you did. What about the worthy opponent? Do you know the hell you guys made me go through to and from the "airport"? I lost my laptop and the water bottle to the monkeys in the jungle (trying to find a short cut), I too rusty, can't swing on branches like I used to. Anyway I forgive you.

Will you guys be doing your interview stint ontop Mt. Kilaminjaro wearing pith helmets and smoking ivory pipes and the like?

I kind of fancy that as being more like Commander McBragg on the old cartoons. You'll need to interject a few phrases such as "bully bully" and "balderdash" and "the natives were restless" and all of that big game hunter type lingo. Look forward to watching.

Check out OLN next Sunday. The show is called: "Idiots on Wheels: The Charge of the Not-So-Bright Brigade." We were hoping to get the real Haagen Das to sponsor, but their ad man said, "I wouldn't touch any of you with a long stick."
