If you'd like my stock Truvativ cranks + bottom bracket, you can have the lot for $15 + shipping.

I have a cruddy chain from an old walmart bike... has rust on it though. Free plus shipping.

Come to think of it, I'll just use MSN for this.

If you send me a freewheel tool, I can donate a freewheel to the cause. Also, I have a chain, but its a bit sketchy. It was neglected and has some rust/grime, but it can be cleaned.

Edit: and a set of cheapo promax linear pulls.

What size seat post are you looking at?

What frame are you planning to use?

Understandable anthonaut....but I figure if someone is willing to watch it go to good use, then it helps me out. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a Kona Fire Mountain or this 18" specialized that feltup on here has...

how much would you want for the hardrock frame? does it have a fork? What is the headset 1 or 1 1/8? What cranks, is the mavic 221 a 32h rim?

i dont know what price. its a 1 1/8th head tube. cranks are specialized house brand, 32hole rear wheel, double wall rim. fork is an old judy c 80mm travel thats in pieces right now, but i can throw it back together for you (its probably worthless, ill give that to you.. but honestly, id go with a rigid fork over it). shoot me a pm with an offer for whatever parts you want, or if you give me a day or two i can grab pics of everything.

Now all I need is a stem and a front wheel. Anyone?

I got a stem if you want.

Stock stem on an 03 epic. Black, I think 110mm, 1 1/8.

I never has a problem with it except that after a season I figured out it was too short.

I got a front wheel too.

Cheap as hell, bought off nashbar 2-3 years ago. One of those 40 dollar variety. Velocity brand I think. Silver hub, silver rim, 3x. Well maintained and true and round.
You would have to get a skewer though. I cannabalized that already.

You can Have both if you are interested. Low price. Like, real low.

Like give me 10 bucks plus shipping

I forgot to add.

As far as recomendations.

I know you want to do this on the cheap. But if you like it and are considering other builds in the future, The White Industries Eccentric Hub is a beautiful thing to have. You can convert old hardtails to SS quickly and easily.

It is pricey, but I have done a lot of converts with it and it is sweet for frames with vertical dropouts.

But again...........not so cheap

We should get him a blank white jersey, and then whoever gives him parts, we get 5 square inches of space to put our design or note. Then he can ride around town wearing it every day for a year, and have publicity and such. :)

This is very nice and a forum project would be nice, but let's face facts, it's not like PWRDbyTRD is poor or anything. How bout if we do a forum project, we build a bike for some inner city kid that needs it. I'm sure someone on the board works with one of those charities.

Not saying you shouldn't give your parts to PWRD or anything, but if we do a future forum project it would probably go to a better home if it went to someone who didn't have a nice bike already.

I have nothing to donate though PWRD, except for....nope nothing. I've never even bought a bike part before. Hopefully I can total something and than see how this upgrade business goes.

Don't do it man. It is a slippery slope. One minute you will be walking along just minding your business, then Bam!!

You have 6 bikes and enough extra parts for 3 more.

I like your idea about building a bike for a kid.
But really, whats the point of building some bike for a poor inner city kid?
The kids parents are just going to pawn it for crack money anyway.

hahahha lol. How bout we make the kid "not that poor" so we know he's going to ride it. But not like some street thug. They scare me anyways. How about this: A reasonably disadvantaged kid. Like he has money to eat and go to school or whatever, but a $300 bike is totally out of the question. Someone like that.

At the current moment I am poor. I lost my good job and now I work fast food til I can find something else, hence why I am doing this versus dumping 1000+ dollars into another bike. I'm trying to prioritize and right now a new bike is a high priority, but the requirement is low cost. :) Thanks for everyone's help.

PWRDbyTRD

Well overall I think I did good. Total cost should be somewhere around 130-150 dollars in total for everything, including shipping costs from kind donaters.
