Looking into a set of Pazzaz carbon bars and carbon stem. I believe that the stem is supposed to have AL reinforcing. Any one have any info?
Carbon stem? Not for me. Way too roadie for this guy. Have you tried Google?

I'm kinda' with Raiyne on this one. A carbon stem for anything but the lightest of offroad use would have me exceptionally concerned. On the other hand however, carbon fiber technology has come a long way over the past couple of years so there's a very good chance that it could be fine. Personally I'd wait for a couple of other people to try it out and find out what kind of experiences they had with it before I'd go slapping it on my ride.

It's actually really the other way around. The stems are essentially a smaller diameter aluminum stem wrapped with CF for reinforcement and to increase stiffness, strength and fatigue life while at the same time reducing weight. It also supposedly absorbs some vibration but I'm not sure I'd buy that.

I decided against it. Put LX cranks, XT Brakes and XT rear der. on instead. They're a sure bet.
Thanks for the input, just what I figured I'd receive. I'll let them fail for someone else.
