I've just bought a new bike to replace the last on that was stolen. I have also purchased an Abus D-Lock (Scores 15 out of 10 on the security scale), and Abus cable lock (scores 9) and a Kryptonite cable (5)

Is it worth registering my bike, does anyone have any experience of this in the UK?

This company seems to be recomended by the CTC, although no mention on the CTC site.

If I went for the £17.95 option with the hidden data chip, if the bike was ever stolen/recovered do all Police forces routinly scan all bikes for hidden chips ?

If your willing to loose L17.95, for a bike theft program, go ahead, but this is a hard earn money, so just really have your eyes open or don't leave your bike unattended where ever you go this is the best bike theft deterrent...., you can have

and for 17.95Pounds, you can add the bike to your home insurance, that way if the bike is stolen your home insurance will just replace it.....

Even if the bike is not around the home when it is stolen?

Bike insurance for £17.50 ? (About US $25.00) No Way !!!

I already have bike insurance - it costs £150 (US $225) a year.

The house insurance only pays out a max of £500 (US $750) which does not cove a bike with a replacement value of £1500 (US $2000)
