Bicycle Mechanics - Question ??

I dont know what its called but the thing on the weel where the chain moves up and down while shifting speeds. It moves around a bit and makes noise as i turn my rear weel anyone know what causes this??

I dont know if this helps but I went to get my rear wheel aligned...

it may be to late by now but anywayz welcome to bike forum, and your going to get wacky advice and some serious one's too, and here's another wacky advice its only your ears that are playing on you,

The sprockets on the rear are either a part of a freewheel (usually 5 or 6 speed) or a cassette which mounts on a freewheeling mechanism (usually 7,8,9 speed) which is part of the hub. It is normal for it to make a clicking sound when you stop pedalling but there should be no irregular sounds and no side-to-side play and only the very slightest bit of 'wobble' when freewheeling.

If it worked before you took the wheel in, make them fix it free. Otherwise get them to repair/replace as necessary.
