I don't know if anyone cares, but this is the underside of my desk at work. I came in one weekend and customized it to meet my commuting needs. The white box on the left is a space heater with two settings to help dry everything out on wet days. I have 4 hooks and clips on top to hang/dry socks and gloves. There is a hook on the back wall where I can hang my shorts and neoprene booties. My jacket, tights, jersey, etc. hang on a coat rack that is out of sight of the office. No matter how wet the morning commute is, I always have dry socks, shoes and shorts for the ride home. There is sometimes a funky smell coming out of my desk, but nobody has complained yet and I've been using my desk as a clothes dryer for over a year now.
Oh yeah, the white box on the right is a subwoofer for my computer and does not aid in the drying of my clothes. Also, sorry I subjected everybody to looking at my chamois.

Great!!! it's raining again Yeaaaaaa! BTW that's a fine system, the little heater works well? Great use of space, and the boss on the other side dosen't even notice, well done!
Snow on Mt Hood should be 4k over the weekend.
Thanks for the great ideas

Neat set up. Unfortunately, at my job we can't have any kind of heater or fridge appliance (HVAC concerns). Usually, I just hang my t-shirt on the door hook and it will dry during the day.

That is a great idea. I know what I'm doing at lunch today. Nothing worse than putting on wet cycling wear at the end of a long day. I used to use the top of my monitor as a glove/helmet drying rack. I was the only one in my office who didn't want a flat screen.
Also, sorry I subjected everybody to looking at my chamois.
No Stains, no problem. :D
I love it! But, ahh isn't there sort of an aroma hanging about? When my gear starts to dry, it smells like a moose in heat.

I used to hang everything from hangers, on my bike, in a bike locker. Now that was sweet. The sun warmed everything all day and everything was dry and ready to go at the end of the day.
I have a stinky locker in a shower room now... I like the desk idea. Good one.

Nice. Add a shelf for an alarm clock, a drawer for a blanket, & a cupholder and you're ready to pull a Costanza. :p

Yeah, it's raining again...nice work...So...are the hooks drilled in then?
Nice setup. I have to either drape things over my bike or hang things on a hanger behind my office door.
Sweet. But I wonder about odors as well. I hang up my bike clothes in my office when they get wet because they don't dry in the locker. But then my office smells like wet socks. I brought in some de-odorizer for those days.

I've found that soaking wet clothes after a rainy commute dry real fast behind our server rack.

They are just little rubber coated teacup hooks that are screwed into the desk maybe 1/2 inch. I don't believe the structural integrity of the desk has been compromised. Then I just use some plastic clips to clip my socks or whatever and then hang the clips to the hooks. If I ever get a new desk or move offices, I'll just take the hooks out and nobody will be the wiser.

Like I said, there is a funk every once in a while on a bad day but I'm not at my desk all the time and I share a large office with only 2 other people. I also have a 4 drawer file cabinet. 2 of the 4 droors are used as a dresser for extra clothes

You'd be surprised at how effective a small fan, (desk sized) is at drying things. They usually cost like $10 or something, and really get that air moving to dry stuff out.
This is brilliant. I just found out our office is moving into another part of the building. We get windows (yay!) and I lose my cube (yay!) for a 2-person office (~yay) with our group's lead engineer :(. I've been hanging the less funky layers and my towel on hangers on the back of my cube, draping tights over my panniers under my desk, and brining a 2nd pair of socks in case. Hanging stuff under the desk like this may be an acceptable improvement (along with some STRONG air freshner, or maybe Lysol). Not sure if I can install a small fan, and anything with a heating element is verboten.

I was waiting for someone to say it. lol
ks1q,
You could try a combination of a lightbulb (extra desk lamp?) and a fan....that is pretty gentle heat and shouldn't frack the fabric or the building mgmt.
I just hang my clothes next to the boiler. Guaranteed warm and dry by the end of the day.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA. Anyone remmeber that seinfeld episode? LOLZ
Good idea , fsor, but the powers that be would get very upset with any extra heat-producing electricals. (We convinced them the coffee pot was "mission critical". Helps that the boss is even more a caffine fiend than I am.) Hmmm - I could tell them it is my emergency lighting (yeah right, with windows) Now I could argue the fan is to produce a masking white noise to help my tinnitus (another coworker plays soft music at low volume in her work area for the same reason). The fan and cupholder hangers should work, though, and beat hanging stuff on the walls.

Frugal! More like cheap! My company makes sooo much money off me + they wouldn't spring for a monitor stand...I had to requisition 2 3X5 sticky pads! ...Get Real! When people complained about the getto Math books that I used to prop up the monitor and mysteriously, a stand turned up.
A 4amp mini fridge is on it's way for storage under the desk. After 2 week's worth of my lunch meats, cheeses etc got swiped out of the company fridge, I'm done. It'll sit next to the Sharper image air cleaner that barely puts a dent in the cat/dog/pet odors (?)
