Sorry to clutter up the forums but you just never know if someone will see this as its pretty distinctive. It's not my bike but I've seen it around town a lot (obviously before it was stolen).

"I will give you cash money to get this bike back. If you see someone selling it, buy it from them and let me know what you paid; I'll make it worth your while. It's my means of getting around, and I need it back.

My beloved bicycle was stolen from my apartment last night. It's a scratched-up gold Flying Dutchman frame with a worn Brooks Pro saddle, Phil Wood front and rear hubs, and a fixed-gear. It has a HEAVY sticker on the downtube and a small red upper playground sticker on the seat-tube.
It has narrow (38cm) cinelli track drops with a machined aluminum brake lever. "

just got an email back from the guy, yep stolen from is his apt in the lower haight...if it was 'street related...meaning locals and its still there there is a small chance...but there's a lot of fixed types that live/visit pass through so it may not be the locals...

and i just say this because people always try and sell me stuff while i'm working at nickies, and i have recovered a couple of laptops that were stolen from cars parked in the lower haight, but those tend to stick around longer than bikes..we'll see...

funny thing is that i have been in contact with this guy, it turns out that this theft occured right down the street from where i work at, but from the sounds of it, and that person(s) that broke in and stole not just his bike but 3 others along with misc stuff from the storage area in which the items where stored, it was not the work of stree tpeople, more so organized thieves, since they left things a crackhead would have taken as well...

i went out yesterday in the rain and talked with a couple of street folks i know in the area, told em' of what i'm looking for, we'll see, can't hurt..... plus i told the guy to make sure and stop into the bar i work at, least thing i can do is buy him a couple of drinks.....

even with this theft the guy still thinks that the neighborhood has great energy....and that he thanked me for providing him the positive vibes, and proving that to him.....

last week i bought the gold phil / red deep v rear wheel off one of the many bike thieves in sf. I gave it back to the original owner. i knew it was stolen because of the craigs post. the crackhead said they squat a wearhouse on third street where they keep stolen goods till a little time passes. check out the group of homeless that have alot of bikes and shopping carts. they also hang out at the 17th and bryant park. i would love to see whats in the wearhouse. lets decode this dirty system!
