Just got back from riding my local trails, the Tour De Wolf in Memphis, but it wasn't all fun and games, I was speeding down a hill at about 25-30mph, my front wheel lost traction and I hit a grove, sending me over then handlebars and into a rose bush, I'm ok, bikes ok, just a little blood loss is all, and a few scratches.

Unlucky, Arent you reasonably new to biking aswell? if so thats a nasty crash for anybody, nevermind a newbie..

Hope your alright :)

I crashed pretty good today aswell, we were out doing some singletrack and theres a bridge that you have to ride along, and of course I had to drop off the end, its about 2 foot of drop, i overshot it, and went head first into a gorse bush, didnt feel to great but nevermind, it was a good ride all the same...

Ill be pulling prickles outta my face for weeks though :(

I am indeed looking at a new bike. I got into biking about 2 years ago, although not until recently have I really got into it as a major hobby, but I've hit up good trails in Abbotsford, BC, and Sarasota Country, Florida.

I remember falling into a rosebush the first time I ever got on a bike without training wheels, 30 odd years ago :p My latest permanent scar looks as though it'll be from three weeks ago where I was coming downhill on a fire road at nearly 30 mph and went flying round a bend to see two hikers taking up most of the path. I swerved to avoid them, hit a foot deep rut in the road and then clipped the bank on the right hand side of the road. Somehow I ended up on the bank, 5 feet above my bike, covered in mud and with a small gash in my arm near my elbow. XC is fun :)

I SMACKED a log today......head on around 20mph.... you know when they say where you look is where you go...yeah..I forgot that at the time. Bent my rim so bad it wouldnt move thru the fork.....but some clonking on the ground set it "true" and I use that term LOOSELY...but thank god for full face helmets and pressure suites....but hurts tho, landed ona rock :(

Ouch....hitting a rose bush must hurt. I slid on a small patch of gravel down a steep hill and I got small bits off gravel stuck in the back of my leg. Hope you finish pulling thorns out of yourself. :)

Been there, minus the rosebush on some of our local trails (Alafia for those who care) I was out on the hardtail about to crest this hill when my girlfriend says something to me. In that split second lapse of concentration I hit a rock just wrong* flipped over the bars and reflexively stuck my forearm out in front of my face just in time to catch the chainring before it and the bike smacked into my face. I remember just lying there motionless, flat on my back, looking up at the sky doing the "systems check" where you asses how bad you're really hurt. My girlfriend who was riding behind me saw me disappear and heard the crash came to the top of the hill, spotted me, called out and when I didn't answer (still "system checking") commented "Oh great! He's dead" As in "now what the **** do I do" To shorten the story I was fine, but we were done for the day after that.

*can you actually hit something just "right" and cause catastrophe?

Around here, our nemesis is the stinging nettle. I fall into those things all the time... and then parts of my body go numb.

We have long vines that grab you. Aside from that, a lot of pricker-bushes are waiting to get you.

surely thats good if your body goes numb?
'cos you can push harder and not feel the pain!

Snakehunter, what is apressure suit? Ive heard of the 661 one, but i dont know if it is just what uit is called or if it actually does something to the pressure inside the suit?
enlighten me!
