Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Just wondering what is the apx. size road bike for me? I am a hair shy of 6 ft. Is the size probably 56 - 58 cm? I don't know and won't be able to get to a bike shop for a few days? just wondering.

57cm (center-to-top) is not a bad first guess, but it really depends alot on bottom bracket height and your inseam length. I am 5'8" tall, wear a 30" inseam, and find 55cm (C-T) just about right.

Varies with manufacture so it's best to check with your dealer. http://www.voodoo-cycles.com/sizewising/index.html said I was a 56 but when I bought my Motobecane they said to go with a 59.Fits me perfect.Glad I checked first before buying.

As long as you have safe crotch clearance, height is not critical.
Top tube length varies with frame size, so pick a size based on the length that is right for you. Changing stems can alter the length a bit, but its better to match TT and stem in length. Extra long or short stems affect handling.
