hi, Me and my 2 friend drift 24' cruisers and we're sick of buying new tires, and not having the traction loss we need. I need some help with some VERRY CHEAP home made resins/hardeners/compounds for covering tires with. Need to be semi thick depening on the softness. Needs to last a few days or more. Object to cover tires is not optional. Anything that involves covering the ground with is ot optionl, we drift anywhere and everywhere. Thanks for the ideas!

Interesting. So you need bald tires? Or nearly bald tires? If so, why not just check around at the LBS or BMX tracks? You'll probably get all the used tires you need. As far as covering a tire, I have no idea.

The Primo Comet is not bald; it's has a knurled tread.

Primo (and other brands') Slics, however, are basically bald tires.

Bald tires are not recommended for drifting, they give you too much traction depending on the tire. I need a hardening compund.

I'd recommend going to the local hardware store or something to that extent. I've never had to do this, so I'm not knowledgable, and most of the other members are 15-year old kids that wouldn't know a frame from a fork.

trust me drifting on a bike is nothing compared to in a car. but if you cant wait that long try only doing it in the rain. or my favorite is to get an empty gallon milk carten (the pastic ones) and crush it then try and skid on that good luck. and dont under estimate it. it will feel like your back wheels on ice.

any way you do it, i think skidding is very boring. i ride on jamaica ave and people are sitting at bus stops. me and my friends used to skid into a puddle so it would splash water at them.

its not bs i do it all the time its actualy simple. you just skid and turn then you countersteer to balance it. however it sucks because you actualy slow down greatly when you do it. actual drifting you speed up because you are spinning the tires to get the lack of traction you need.

Exactly. Lean forward and you can drift alot longer.

I like doing that in my dirt driveway sometimes... but it tears up the tires pretty quickly.

Skidding is awesome if you grab a tray from your local Burger King and find a good straight and wide street. Bunnyhop onto the tray while going fast and lock your rear brake landing on the tray with your rear wheel.

You will skid like 100 feet or more. Plus, it just wears through the tray, not your tire.

I've seen people do this and do surfers (old locking levers) - but it's fun to do 180's and do backwards skids. You can also pretty much do full 360 skids. Kind of crazy. The same thing can be done on a skateboard. Bunnyhop, lock your brakes, land rear wheel on the skateboard.

Fun and amusing - but hardly serious. Kind of like riding a scooter or an unbike.

Thats what I was trying to say with the milk carton thing. Anything plastic works but it requires extremely good timing and its hard to get used to but its probably a good solution to your problem

That is absolutely not true. When drifting, you aren't using all of the available grip to accelerate. If drifting is faster, then why don't you see any race car drivers doing it? Nobody spins their tires "to get the lack of traction you need." In fact, race cars have gripper tires for increased traction.

I'll be sure to peddal myt little heart out to hold a drift... DA.
