I'm a big guy, 6'-220lbs. Recently I broke a Santa Cruz Chameleon and right now I'm riding a Giant ATX950 full suspression frame with Fox Shocks. I use my bike for bike couriering 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time I'm usually doing urban freeriding or trailriding. (By the way the Giant's been replaced three times already.) What I'm looking for is something that will last longer than two months, freeriding style and something in the $1100 range. Please help. If this helps your suggestion the local bike shops call me a "one man wrecking crew" because I do waste alot of bikes, honestly about seven bikes in five years.

Please help:(

Yea right, he would trash that thing in the first day!!!. Courierjoe, you might be able to get a frame and fork that would fit your needs, and then save up some more money and then build the bike. You could get a 24 letoy 3 frame for 600, a 24 pornking frame for 700, or a clifcat tankass frame for 700. Go to http://unrealcycles.com/uc-prod-frames.htm and look at the frames, I doubt that you will be able to get a complete bike for $1100 that will last.

I would suggest you stop letting him use the bike, because its going to break very soon.
Would something like this interest you Joe?

One problem is that you are putting more hours on the bike in one day than many people do in a week. I would suggest sticking with a hardtail or even a rigid if you can tolerate it. Bigger tires probably wouldn't hurt either. Also, seriously consider a second bike so you don't have to 'play' on your work bike.

Now are you busting both frames and components? If so, how/where/what?

A dirt jump or dual slalom frame will take lots of abuse but you won't have the best geometry for speed and aerodynamics. A steel hardtail thats not super lightweight should be fine for the job and will give you far better geometry.

uhm...yea.

True 'dat. I've been riding a steel hardtail for years, and it's taken more abuse that 8-9 aluminum ones would have.

I imagine that the walmart ones are mostly steel too. :p Thing is, while i wasn't spending all day on my bike like Courierjoe does, it was my only form of transportation, therefore i put alot of miles on it. It's still going strong, too.
