Well, Saturday was the last day of Winter. I could think of nothing better than to bust out the single speeds, and go find some snow to play in. I got out to an area of higher elevation (Big Bear Lake in WV), and there was indeed some snow left on which to play! The snow was very heavy, and very difficult to plod through, but it was really a blast. I will miss Winter! Here are a few pix of the official end of this sweet season:

We were shocked to find snow in the parking area:

The snow was so thick, you didn't need to lean your bike against a tree. Just let it stand in the snow!

Not to jack a thread here, but how to you like the Hope brakes? Mono Minis it looks like...? I'm considering them for a bike I will build in the distant future, but haven't heard much about then other than reading a little on mbtr.com.

Yup, they are the Hope Minis. I had a pair of Hayes, but just didn't like the levers. I was able to strike a deal with trading the Hayes for the Hopes for a bit more than buying new levers would cost. I'm glad I went with the Hopes. The modulation is great, and the power is big. The only issue I have is a squeek in the front brake when it's really wet/muddy out. It's a minor issue given the quality, and performance of these brakes.

Hey B,
Might get a little more snow riding in after all with the forecast for tonight. Of course it will probably melt before too long tomorrow.
