Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an elementary school teacher. I've been riding bikes since I was a kid. I still have my Huffy that I got when I was 9 yrs old. I've been road riding since 1981 but I became serious in 95 when I finally found a small road bike for a 5'1 100 lb rider. I out grew my Cannondale (it's now my trainer bike) and 2 yrs ago bought an Aegis Swift. Last week I upgraded from Shimano 105 components to Campy 10 sp. It took me 20 years to find the perfect "little person" bike but I think I now have it.
I just got back from Georgetown, Ky. Every Memorial Day the Bluegrass Cycling Club, from Lexington, Ky. runs a bike ride called the Horsey Hundred. It's two days of cycling around the Kentucky horse farms. The roads are great with lots of rolling hills. I've been doing this ride since 1983 and I seem to enjoy it more than ever. This year seemed even more beautiful. The flowers were beautiful and there were lots of colts frollicking in the pastures.I guess with the events of the last year and all the rain and cold weather we've had here the day seemed especially sparkly.
I also mtn bike and am an avid skier.
I am also 50+ and will be retiring after next school year, yeah!

Hello Kathi, Horsey Hundred eh,sounds like a good time.I will have to try and remember that for next year since I'm here in S Illinois. Must be nice to have one more year of work left.I'd say your Swift is really going to see some miles after that:D

Here's a couple more hilly rides in the area that you might like. The Old Kentucky Home ride and TriRi. The Old Kentucky Home ride is from Louisville, Ky to Bardstown Ky. You spend the night in Bardstown and ride back on Sunday. There are free bourbon tastings if you get to Bardstown in time. The first time I rode it I thought that Bardstown was on the top of a mountain because it seemed all we did was climb. The ride is in Sept.
If you do tours there is a tour called TriRi in Indiana. June and Sept are the months they are done in. The participants ride to Indiana state parks, spend the night then go to another park. Joe, the person who choses the routes loves hills so he picks the hilliest roads he can find. The tour rotates to different sections of the state each year. Part of the June tour this year is around Bloomington and Brown County, the area where the Hilly Hundred is held.
Yes, my little Swift will get a good workout next year. It usually gets a pretty good workout in the summer when I'm off, too!
