One of my brake pads was loose yesterday, so I started tightening it. All of a sudden, the post snaps in half. Crazy; I've never had that happen before, and I wasn't even really cranking down on it.

Anyway, what kind of pads would you guys recommend. I'm looking for something that locks up the brakes instantly on a chrome rim, no Eagle Claws or EC2s, and is compatible with 20" rims.

Kool-Stop dual compound is great for fast lockup. I don't know about chrome rims though, I don't run them.

Well, chrome plating is pretty damn grippy, especially with the use of Simple Green for keeping it clean.
