Bicycle Mechanics - 2005 Spec'd Sirrus Tire Width

Would it be possible to run a 35C or maybe even a 38C tire on this frame? Is there a way that I can check this myself without having to ask others?

I don't know if the sirrus has room in the front fork for 38's, last time I checked at the LBS, the 04' sirrus disc was pretty tight.

Man...those ppl screwed me hardcore...I had told them from the get go I wanted a 105 setup...with a 53T up front and then right before I'm about to have the parts/frame shipped to me they tell me it's a top pull derailleur and can't accomdate over a 46T chainring...I just told em to scrap the frame n everything...really set me off. Anyways...I'm just looking at my options...Sirrus looked interesting once I lose some more weight. My pants are starting to fall off :D

The Specialized "Sirrus" WILL NOT accomodate a tire wider than a 30/32! A "small" 30/32 at that!!!

I have Bontrager "Jones CX"'s on my Sirrus disc now--they JUST fit...WITHOUT the front clip-on fender (which I had to remove 'cause the tire rubbed too much! :( ).

The "widest" tire the Sirrus is designed to handle, comfortably, is a "28".

Despite losing what i was hoping to be a perfect bike I didn't lose a cent, they were very helpful as far as that goes. Thanks black for the info...looks like I'll be dropping for another 6 months at minimum before I'll consider that bike...does the allez support bigger tires?

Probably not... you'll probably need something like a cyclocross bike or touring bike.

It's a road bike, avid bb disc brakes, 36H front and rear deore disc hubs, extra spoke holder in case you break any on the way...

Measuring it, the distance for front and back is 2.125 inches. So you can go as wide as that.
Hell if you want, as long as the rotor's the same size and the cassette's the same speed, take the wheels off your mountain bike and mount it on the ocr touring and go mtb'ing with it.

The giant if you can find it onsale as last year's model you can get it for $1100 or so.
The cannondale you can get for $1600 or so.

I think he wanted discs in case he's on a long descent and the rims heat up too much or if he hits a bump and warps his wheel, the brakes still work. Honestly, at his weight, i'd recommend discs too.

True. he had been talking with me on IM about it. I do concur that the discs would be a good thing

crack n fail.........hahahahahah actually the avid shorty 4's or whatever seem to do pretty good on me...I tried em out on the bianchi axis. I'm still sorting my options over *sighs* The JTS is another good option...I just have to keep looking and looking til I'm deadset
