Hi. I am in the process of building my first wheel with a shimano nexus 7 speed internal hub. I have a 26 inch rim, and need to know what length spokes I need to build it. The model number for this hub was cj-7s40. Apparently, the hub diameter of spoke holes was 99mm. If you can tell me, I would be very happy. BTW, what is a good price for one of these in the box?? i paid $100. Actually it was birthday money so I didn't feel it.
Thanks, Alan

There are a few measurements of the rim you need and a few more of the hub to get a accurate spoke length measurement. This is a good site to figure what you need.

Sheldon Brown has references to several spoke length calculators (and other good wheelbuilding info).

I've used many of them with no problems and got accurate results. The first one on the list has a database of rims and hubs including the nexus 7 spd. I've built several nexus 7's using data from that exact spreadsheet spoke calculator. (The first wheel I ever built was measured by a LBS who proceeded to sell me the wrong spokes at a rip off price. Measure or calculate it yourself if you want to be sure it's right and to learn the techniques)
