Get a Calfee. That will run fixed cross. That is what I have. Haven't taken if off road yet, though. Just had it a couple weeks.

I raced fixed 'cross last season on my Surly Steamroller with only a front brake, 43x19, and time atac pedals NO probs never crashed once due to "riding fixed" but, I crashed plenty due to 'cross!!! I placed 3rd overall in the very competative singlespeed catergory in the Seattle area 'cross series. I plan to continue to race 'cross fixed in the future.

so easy actually easyer than with a freewheel!! pace out your pedal strokes as you come up to a barrier, about one full pedal revalution before the barrier you twist your right foot out of the pedal swing it over the bike when your left foot starts the down stroke, then ride the pedal all the way around this will slow you down coming up to the barrier, then twist your left foot out and hit the ground running as you shoulder the bike the pedals will kinda jit you in the back but not a prblem. then to remount you just put the bike down swing your leg over sit on the saddle with your right thigh and wait for the pedals to spin around and clip in and go. you never miss a pedal if you do you know it is coming right back around in a sec, unlike a freewheel where you might miss the pedal causing you to faulter maybe even crash. never ever have to worry about dropping your chain and the momentum from riding fixed actually helps with the steeps. decents can be tricky especially when you don't quite get clipped in before you start down. but in crowds at start and coming into choke points you can really control your speed with your legs!! and it is quite the crowd pleaser!!!!

The Kelly and the Spot are great but On-One makes a great SS specific 'Cross frame for a nice price.
