Bicycle Mechanics - Pre-ride inspection/tune-up?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just wondering what everyone does for a pre-ride check up? Anything special?
I...
Check cables/wires.
Test both brakes.
Look at the tyres and feel them to check pressure.
Briefly inspect the chain and related bits.

I just make sure that I have 110 pounds air in my tires. I make sure to do a thorough post ride after each ride, which is clean-lube chain to remove clung on grime then use Meguiar's finishing spray to clean the frame of grime as well.
I ride every day. I squeeze the front tire and then the back tire. Then i get on the bike and go. (providing they are both aired up.)

I check the quick releases.
At home, I usually check pretty good before I head out for a ride, so it gets a pretty close inspection then. However, when I lock up at school or downtown, I don't really get down on hands and knees to give a pre-ride check but usually:
1. Check tire pressure (maybe someone let my tires out).
2. Glance at F+R quick releases (maybe somebody really does not like me).
3. Test brakes (give em a squeeze, maybe I gave someone a bad look)
4. Give a quick drop test (see if my rear derailleur falls off- if it does, look around to see who's laughing).
Petty much just check brakes and air. I'm pretty picky about pressure though so I normally attach the pump before a ride.

I ride almost daily, and I clean and lube my bike after every ride. I inspect the tires, and scrub down the tread lest their be any little items quietly lurking ready to cause me grief on the next ride.
What does everyone use to clean the drivetrain with?

What does everyone use to clean the drivetrain with?
Degreasers, cassette brushes, chain cleaning devices, rags used between cogs like floss, and careful lubing with Pedro's (dry lube) which seems to not attract dirt.
