I am looking for a new set of wheels and have a couple questions. To be used for general riding no racing or touring.
Does anyone have experience with either Xero or Neuvation wheels? Pro's or Con's for these?
On the Xero wheels is there a difference between the Xero Lite XR-1's and the Centauri XR-1's.
Any other suggestions for wheels in the $200 to $300 range?

Oooh oooh I have Xeros...JUST TOOK THEM OFF. :D For general riding you dont' want a low spoke count wheel. May I suggest the wheels I just got and so far love. Shimano 105 hubs, Salsa Delgado Cross rims, 32 spokes laced 3 cross, 14/15/15 DT Swiss spokes. You can get these HAND built for $250 from Speedgoat.com. Want another hub? They can do that. Want another spoke? They can do that too. Other popular choices in the price range would be Ultegra hubs laced to Open Pros (which are another great choice but a bit less (not much) durable. That set would be more of a roadie wheel then the Salsa which is a CX wheel that is great for commuting and touring as well due to it's durability. I found myself truing my Xeros every couple of months with daily riding.

Why not use low spoke count? My Spinergy wheels are holding up fine under my 200# butt.

I took a set of the Xero XR-3's off my Giant and I haven't looked back. I just picked up a set of Ultegra/OP's 32 3x with DB spokes from PricePoint for $160.00 + shipping. My Xero's were not as stiff, heavy and came slightly out of true more often. They aren't a bad set of backup wheels.

The ride is rougher due to the higher spoke tension, the weight of the rims (especially on low end low spoke wheels) tends to be higher to increase durability and that is the worst place to add weight. They simply aren't as strong as a higher spoke count wheel. If you want a good inexpensive, durable wheel you should have 32 spokes or more on a wheel.
