Bicycle Mechanics - Frame prep in San Diego area?

I was wondering who out there can recommend a local San Diego shop who are experienced (and competent!) in prepping a NOS Italian steel frame. The last time I built-up a ride it was prepped and built-up by "The Bike Lane"; sadly they're gone (thanks Mike, Kyle and the other guys). Anyhow, I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Couple good ideas -

Cycling Tunes on Adams Avenue. When I worked there, they used to have a full set of Campy tools. See if Steve still works there.

Bikes by the Bay. They also had full set of the proper tools.

Cycle Art - They are in North County and they are a paint shop. No experience with them on prep, but they should be able to do it.

Do you mean prep for paint? If so do it your self and save some money, its very easy and satisfying.

I don't think Cycling Tunes is there any more. Bikes by the Bay might still be, if that's the one off Morena Boulevard

You might also try Dano at B & L Bike + Sports (http://www.blbikes.com/). Some say he's the best in the county.

Wow... I have been out of San Diego a while. Give Cycle Art a call. I am curious to see what they say. The sticker on my Rossin says Vista, California. A short drive from San Diego.

Try Brian Baylis, he's in El Cajon. Check the frame builders list. Another guy to call is Chuck Hofer at Pacific Coast Cycles in Oceanside. Both have full campy tool sets. Brian's shop is off Cuyamaca by Gilesepe Field. Check the frame builders list, he frequents that. http://tinyurl.com/4m8un you should be able to locate him from that google. I'm underway or I'd have his info. Shop is on the corner of Cuyamaca and Friendship in a little industrial comples by the trolley. I think his unit is #13.

Brian Baylis... That is a name I have not heard in a very long time. Brian is a true artisan frame builder in addition to being a great human being.
