Mountain Biking - what is this Cannondale?

i just picked up this cannondale and i cant find any info about it at all. i think its from the late 80's.

all it says is 30 series aluminum.

it has mostly suntor components, canti brakes and friction shifters.

does it have a model number or something?? is it worth anything??i hope its worth more than the 60 bucks i paid for it. haha

any info on this bike would help.

and thoose arnt the original rims, thoose are temp rims.

Does it say 'Alpine Series' anywhere on it?

Also, Does it have 'dents' in the chainstays at all. They really had to manipulate the chain stays to fit the cranks and wide tires on the bikes at the same time.

I have a very similar bike in white, a few years older I think.

VERY harsh riding aluminum with a steel fork.
I use mine to get groceries. If you consider beer groceries.
Mine has a really short top tube, compared to modern geometries and I just don't feel comfortable riding it on trails.


Is it worth 60 bucks??? Probably. The frame will last forever.

it says 3.0 series not 30, and i was told 3.0 is the weight of the frame.

but still no modle number anywhere, is there suposed to be one and it got rubbed off??

What is the serial number?

It's stamped on the bottom bracket shell.

That usually indicates the size, year and month, and it was assembled.

From the looks, I'm going to guess late 80's, early 90's. By '92 or '93, the switched on most models to vee brakes and Aheadset stems.

i will have to double check but i think it said xxxx0880xxxx

so an '88??
