Road Cycling - Great road shoes = big difference in performance?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ive been thinking about upgrading my cheap shimano road shoes to something really nice - noticed another member that purchased the sidi titan shoes, and then the pic was posted, what a beautiful shoe. What type of performance difference would I notice between my cheap shoes and a great performance road shoe?
Nikos,
I had the low end cheap ShimaNo shoes,
replaced them with Sidi Genius 3's
(for $99 at LBS).
Wow, major difference. Carbon Sole
vs plastic means NO foot pain and
no flex in the sole. I really believe
I'm more efficient with the new shoes.
I also like the micro adjust feature, and the
fact that almost all of the straps, heel parts
are replacable.
My wife got a pair of Sidi Energy's for $80.
cause they are godawful ugly gold coloured.
There are bargains to be had if you look
for em. Don't be afraid of last years (or 2000)
models.
