I have not heard of them either, stick with something we all know, MAVIC.

I think Alex rims are popular amongst the BMX crowd, and I've been told their MTB rims are okay, but I don't know about road rims.

I've ridden lots and lots of miles on many different rims. No rims build and stay as straight as mavic rims, T-519 for utility, open pro for road and 517 or 618 for XC. Build them yourself, they'll be better for longer.

The rims on my original MTB has Alex rims on it. Haven't had any problems so far, but I really believe they are pretty low-end rims. Personally I'd look into something else like Mavic.

What kind of riding do you do? What model of rim are you looking at?
I run DX32s on my P3 and am satisfied with them. See: http://www.alexrims.com/products/downhill.html
I haven't seen many of their XC rims but their downhill rims are very tough and reasonably priced. They also seem to be consistent batch to batch.

Bikerider, usually just ride pavement, and maybe the odd trail, the streets here are the pits, I need something strong, and around $ 100.00 is this possible.

I vote for Mavic MA-3s (http://www.mavic.com/servlet/srt/mavic/tria-prod_fiche?produitsid=48&lg=uk), 36 spoke.
About 40 grams heavier than a typical road rim, but the closest thing to indestructable you'll find.

If you want bombproof go for the Mavic OPs.
Also try looking at the rims by Ambrosio.
what about sun rhynos
bombproof ....but quite heavy /????

i ride 517 with LX hubs and havent had any problems yet. Sun Rim is just as strong as mavic with their XC rims but they are heavier. I would only buy sun rims for DH
