This would be my first mountain bike in a long time and basically a starter bike to get back into the sport. I would probably spend most of my time on off road trails with some downhill.

The choices at the LBS are:
'04 Kona Blast - $475
'04 Kona Cinder Cone - $650
'05 Haro V4 - $530

I plan on test riding each of them today or tomorrow, but assuming I like all of them, what are some recommendations given the pretty decent prices.

I'd go with the cindercone.

According to a salesman at my LBS, the Cindercone has been the best value for the money for the past 2 years. A co-worker of mine bought one and loves it.
