Touring - "how to" tour book

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Any recommendations on good books that focus on bicycle touring? I'm curious about everything that goes into preparing for, and ultimately executing, a successful bike tour.
Thanks.

The Essential Touring Cyclist by Richard Lovett is as useful as any book on touring. A new edition has just been issued.

What sort of touring are you planning, or are you interested in doing? I was met with a dilema last year when I went to France for a bike tour, and couldn't find a lick about bike touring in the stores. I did use some basic travel guides, how to pack etc, and books like Lonely Planet, and Let's Go Europe, they have little blurbs about biking in countries, none of it is like doing it though.
When you get around to it, the best advice I got was before you go make two piles of stuff, one that's all maybe stuff, and one that is definate, can't live without it. Then look at the can't live without it pile, and pare that down. I still took more than I needed.
There are some cool sites to check, Ken Keiffer's page has some excellent links to other sights, there is crazyguyonabike.com for more touring information. I believe phred.org has a great database for mailinglist information on touring, and you can always do research with deja.com's

Ditto on Regular Guy's recommendation. I read that book front to back and it was good stuff. An easy read too.
