Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was wondering what everyone else does when they have dog problems on their rides.

Do you get dog problems at the full moon too? I just try to stay off the bike for those nights.
Well besides trying to kick the dog the only thing i find that works well is spraying them with water.
Water spray is the best.
A Silca frame-fit pump with a two-pronged Campag. head is next-best. :D

I have no problems. The only dog I havn't been able to outrun (even at 12mph) was the one that jumped in front of my bike. I got the front wheel over him just in time, but alas, my rear gave him a spanking that will probably keep him away from cyclists for a long time.
Your best bet as always is to outrun/outdistance them.

Since the last thread---I've taken to carrying an 18 inch piece of industrial wash hose. Swung with enough force--it will probably crack their skull and will definitely ruin their day. This is one hard piece of flexable hose.

I'm with Stumpjumper, outrun 'em. I was trapped, once, on a rutted, muddy road where i couldn't get up enough speed to get by two big dogs. I had to wait them out, it was scary. The bastards.

AS for the avatar i going to change it. as for the dogs i think i am going to spice their lives up with a lil flavour . I was thinking that they would prehaps enjoy some PEPPER. I will see how those BASTARDS enjoy that. Maybe theyll find as enjoyable as i do almost getting bitten.
