BTW MSNGR... Just to clarify, this event does not kick off any type of messenger series. I think there is a plan to do a racing series for all fixed gear riders, not just messengers (especially since many that raced last year were not all working messengers) sometime after the World's. Also Kissena wants to start phasing out the "messenger category," especially since so many are just racing in A and B categories anyway. Hope that helps. ROAR

Hey Guys,
Campo wanted me to quickly post a request for some help. We need to raise like $250-300 for caulking and more filler for the track. We are requesting that anyone in a position to help can chip in $5-$10 or whatever you can afford to help buy these supplies. Thanks as always and we appreciate any support that can be provided.
Appreciate it,
Bucky and The Kissena Velodrome Committee
I will pass the word tomorrow.

has anyone done this yet, and if so, what was it like?
please go. bucky will make it good.
bucky gets a lot of backlash for being a businessman in a non-businessmanlike community, but he is doing so much for our lifestyle. he really has a passion for this (riding himself on the track, too), and i think this gets lost in our shuffle. i personally cannot make these days, as my team does rides those days for training, but i think anyone who can, should.
i see a lot of myself in bucky and what he is doing. bucky is an ex-messenger who has found himself attaching himself to the community while drifting away (perhaps) from the actual experience. i made the choice to leave everything else behind and go back to my riding days, but it was a tough choice. bucky went the other way and perhaps made the better choice. who is to say? i like bucky, and i like what he is doing for me and my friends.

Hey Msngr I appreciate the words. As gossip and conjecture and knitting circles seem to be the norm, especially in the messenger/punk rock meets vegan meets track bike circles, let me quickly pontificate a bit.
As much as I appreciate the title businesss man, keep in mind I have yet to turn a profit. Not that doesn't mean someday I won't and with a continued struggle I have a chance, but just to set the record clear, if my intention was to make real money, I picked the wrong industry. And I don't even mean track cycling/racing/events (even though those too have no monetary upside, keep in mind you all know who Lance is, but how many know Marty?), I mean publishing. Do you know how many mags go out of business? It's a hard ****in game, especially for brash people like myself who print with integrity an don't kiss asses. Second point, I have been riding a track bike since 1990. I have never left the scene, I just don't don a messenger bag and hang out with the hippest new cliques in the track game. I have no time for drama, and believe me, all these cliques live for is drama. Now on top of all that I have only been in the corporate game for 2 years now. Before that from 2001 - 2004, I ran a graffiti gallery/counter culture shop called SOMA NYC that sold all items under the grey shade of the law: bongs, spraypaint, money counters etc... Then after SOMA NYC I began ANIMAL, a very esoteric-not so marketable- art/lifestyle/fashion magazine. It has been the uphill struggle of my existence. Each isse features a surveillance camera map and other anti-establishement, but smart editorial. So again this idea that I am so corporate is so ****in laughable. I am the most anti-corporate-corporate you will ever find. I mean for Christ sake I helped publicize a painting of the president called Bush Monkeys that def. got me on a FBI list, the painting and resulting controversy even made AlJezeera.com for a month not to mention 200 newspapers worldwide. And for all those tuning in really sorry for this long and lengthy speech but my god hopefully this will clear the air once and for all. So there it all is... any questions? no comment!

one question:
Who sponsored Jesus? And when?
Seriously, well said. But when is Issue 2 due out? I am looking forward to it for sure. Any thoughts of spreading the pulp coverage? Like finding a person at each velo that can report on it, etc? Just a thought.
Keep doing what you do and dodging the bullets. I, for one, am glad you are here.
so there's an intro class or something like that saturday mornings 11-3? anyone got any idea of whether they're gonna have it tomorrow, as it is raining right now. Should i just poke my head out the window and check? but it does take me 2 hours to get there and in that time, it might stop raining. is there some number i can call to check and see if they're gonna open? And there are bikes i can rent there right. My friend doesnt have a track bike and i would like to know what the rates are.
