Triathlon - Changing Cranks and seat adjustment

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Right now my Equinox is at the shop where they're working on the front derailleur (it's been giving me fits, but that's another story). I'm also having them change out the cranks from 175 to 172.5. I know that there's a very small difference between 175 and 172.5 but having ridden bikes with 170, 172.5 and 175 I like 172.5 the best. So my question is when changing the cranks to shorter ones do you raise or lower the saddle? I can't remember. My thinking is that I need to raise it 2.5 mm, right?
Zack - I would agree it would need to be raised, but check with the person who did your fit. The seat position in relation to the bottom bracket is where the fit starts from, after that, everything else is set. I would think it would be more than just raising the seat.

MHR: Good point. I'll shoot him an email and ask if I should move the saddle slightly forward as well.
