Hey everyone;
Question. Anyone know of a product that deflects wind from the ears?
I once saw some plastic clip-on gizmos in the performance bike catalog but they discontinued them before I could order and have'nt seen anything since. I'll have to try cobbling something together myself if no one has this sort of thing and would appreciate any help. They were small shields that fit on the helmet straps positioned just in front of the ears to kick away the wind.
The shreaking sound in my ears drives me nuts sometimes and I can't hear the rider next to me talking even in calm wind. I can hear traffic behind me ok, but if I hold two fingers in front of my ears I can hear everything great, so a thing like this would do it for me. No headphones for me. Anything out there?

I have the same problem. I also get ear aches easily from the wind. I wear a headband over my ears but It's far too warm in summer. I'm always on the look out for a thinner windproof headband to fit over my ears.

Do you wear sunglasses while riding? These are similar to the style I wear.

The lenese are shaped just right for deflecting the air past my ears.
I discovered just how much air they deflect a few weeks ago when I got caught in an afternnon shower. I had my dark lenses and had to take the glasses off because it got so dark. I was amazed how much wind noise there was when I wasn't wearing the glasses. :eek:

One cure for this wind noise problem is to wear headphones and listen to music while on rides, which is what I usually do. It takes away the wind noise and makes the ride more funner.

Although reducing wind noise is a valid objective, obstructing one's hearing with headphones or ear muffs is dangerous and, in many jurrisdictions, illegal.
