Hi

I bought a used pair of Shimano PD-1056 pedals. They are the Look stlye and these were manufactured by Shimano under license from Look. I use the BLACK Look fixed cleat, although I have the RED rotational style cleat, but not currently on the shoe.

My question is:

The back of the pedal has a 2 position adjustment (via screwdrive) labell "S" of hte left side & "M" on the rifght side. They came in the "S" postion. What does "S" & "M" stand for & do I have to use one setting for the fixed stly cleat and the other srtting for the ratational cleat (red)???

Prior to buying these, I was using a Shimano 600 style platform peadal with regular shoes. The clipless pedals are SOoo nice.

TIA

Hi,
I own PD-1056 pedals also. If your question wasn't answered already, the S is for single release (you have to arc your foot horizontally to release the cleat) and M is for multiple release (you can arc your foot horizontally or pull straight up or at an angle forcefully to release the cleat). I hope that helps. I use multiple just to ensure my foot comes out in a crash or if I otherwise need it to. I haven't had any inadvertent releases using multiple.
